Functions:

To encourage collaboration among health and social service organizations, community groups and individuals to support breastfeeding mothers.

To increase public awareness of the benefits of breastfeeding for the baby, mother, family and community.

To identify existing resources and resource gaps to ensure the provision of services to all breastfeeding mothers.

To advocate for and protect a woman's right to breastfeed.

To work with health professionals to enhance their knowledge and skills about breastfeeding and to encourage the provision of consistent support and information.

To work with community groups and individuals involved with breastfeeding mothers to enhance their knowledge about breastfeeding resources in order to provide consistent referral services.

To advocate for an assist in the development of breastfeeding friendly policies and practices in the workplace and educational facilities.

To advocate for and assist in the development of breastfeeding friendly policies in restaurants, shopping malls, government offices and other public places.
-
To include evaluation as a component of all activities.
-
To respect mothers who choose not to breastfeed.
