Renfrew County & District Breastfeeding Network
 

Functions:

  • To encourage collaboration among health and social service organizations, community groups and individuals to support breastfeeding mothers.

  • To increase public awareness of the benefits of breastfeeding for the baby, mother, family and community.

  • To identify existing resources and resource gaps to ensure the provision of services to all breastfeeding mothers.

  • To advocate for and protect a woman's right to breastfeed.

  • To work with health professionals to enhance their knowledge and skills about breastfeeding and to encourage the provision of consistent support and information.

  • To work with community groups and individuals involved with breastfeeding mothers to enhance their knowledge about breastfeeding resources in order to provide consistent referral services.

  • To advocate for an assist in the development of breastfeeding friendly policies and practices in the workplace and educational facilities.

  • To advocate for and assist in the development of breastfeeding friendly policies in restaurants, shopping malls, government offices and other public places.

  • To include evaluation as a component of all activities.

  • To respect mothers who choose not to breastfeed.
